From the 14-day window before arrival through the morning of surgery. These instructions help reduce avoidable risks, support healing and ensure your procedure day runs smoothly.
Two weeks before
Blood-thinning medication and supplementsAvoid aspirin, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and naproxen, high-dose Vitamin E, Omega-3, ginkgo, garlic extracts, ginseng, concentrated green tea extracts and other herbal blood-thinning supplements. Never stop prescribed blood-thinning medication without approval from your prescribing doctor and our medical team. Inform us of all medication you take regularly.
Check cold and flu medicationSome cold, flu and pain-relief products contain aspirin or NSAIDs. Check the label or contact us before taking any of them.
Vitamin C supportYou may take 500 mg daily during the two weeks before your procedure to support normal immune function and healing. Do not take it without medical advice if you have kidney disease, a history of kidney stones, iron overload, or have previously been advised to avoid Vitamin C supplements.
Reduce alcohol & nicotineBegin reducing both immediately and prepare to stop them completely one week before surgery.
Performance supplements and hormone productsStop non-prescribed anabolic steroids, testosterone boosters, fat burners and stimulant-based pre-workout products. If you use prescribed TRT or hormonal medication, inform us and do not stop it unless advised by your doctor or our medical team. These may affect blood pressure, heart rate and bleeding during the procedure.
Scalp & skin healthInform us of inflammation, dandruff, folliculitis, sunburn or irritation in the donor or recipient area. Keep your scalp out of strong sun for the last 2 weeks — a fresh sunburn can delay your surgery.
Monitor blood pressureIf you have a history of elevated blood pressure, monitor regularly and inform us of any concerns.
Inform us of any illnessFever, cough, shortness of breath or any sign of infection — let us know immediately so we can advise you.
Do not cut or shave your hairCome with your hair at its normal length. Our team performs any trimming or shaving needed on the day, tailored to your donor plan.
Medical history & allergiesInform us of any medication allergies, bleeding disorders, diabetes, heart conditions, previous reactions to local anaesthesia or sedation, and any significant medical history.
Diabetes and weight-loss medicationInform us if you use insulin, diabetes medication or GLP-1 medication such as semaglutide or tirzepatide. Do not change or stop it unless specifically instructed by our medical team.
Sleep apnoeaInform us if you have diagnosed or suspected sleep apnoea, severe snoring, or use a CPAP device.
Recreational drugs & cannabisInform us of any recent cannabis or recreational drug use. These may affect blood pressure, heart rate and the medication used during the procedure.
One week before
No alcoholComplete avoidance for the 7 days before surgery.
Stop all nicotineStop cigarettes, vaping, IQOS or heated tobacco, nicotine pouches, gum and patches. Nicotine constricts blood vessels and may compromise healing and graft survival.
Minoxidil — pause if usingPause topical or oral Minoxidil 7 days before surgery, unless we advise you otherwise. If oral Minoxidil has been prescribed for blood pressure or another medical condition, contact us before stopping it. Continue Finasteride or Dutasteride as normal.
No strenuous exercisePause weight training, high-intensity cardio and workout supplements.
Hair coloringIf you plan to dye your hair, do it several days before the procedure so the scalp can stabilise.
New medical symptomsInform us if you experience elevated blood pressure, chest discomfort, breathing issues or any new symptoms during this week.
The night before
Wash your hair with a mild shampooDo not apply conditioner, oils, hair fibres, concealers, dry shampoo, gel, wax or hairspray afterwards. Arrive with a clean, product-free scalp.
No caffeine for 24 hoursCoffee, tea, energy drinks, pre-workout.
Avoid heavy or late mealsLight, early dinner.
Stay well hydratedDrink enough water throughout the day and avoid excessive salt, which may contribute to swelling.
Get a full night of sleepBeing well rested helps support stable blood pressure and makes the procedure more comfortable.

We arrange your transfersYour airport and clinic transfers are organised by us — no need to drive or plan transport yourself. On surgery day a mild sedative may be offered, so you should not drive afterwards.
Leave non-essential valuables at the hotelA secure locker is available for your phone and personal belongings.

Long-term (per clinical advice)
Finasteride 1 mg5α-reductase inhibitor. Reduces DHT to slow native hair loss. Already using it? Continue once daily without interruption — including through surgery. Starting for the first time? You can begin as early as 2 weeks after surgery.

Minoxidil topicalMen 5%, women 2%, applied morning and evening to a dry scalp. Whether you used it before surgery or are starting fresh, the earliest start is 1 month after surgery. If your recipient area still shows redness at the one-month mark, send us a photo and check with us before applying.

Note — Finasteride and Dutasteride should not be used by women or children. Men planning to father children should consult their physician before use. Disclose any history of liver disease, severe bladder problems or known allergic reactions.
Washing Protocol
Daily washing step by step.
The first wash is performed at the clinic using lukewarm water and no friction. Continue washing once daily until all scabs have been removed, unless our medical team gives you different instructions.

Steps for Days 2–9
Wash your hands firstAlways wash and dry your hands thoroughly before touching the products or your scalp.
Apply the clinic-provided foamCover both the recipient and donor areas. On the recipient area, gently place and spread the foam without rubbing, massaging or applying pressure.
Wait the recommended timeAllow the foam to soften the scabs. Do not touch, scratch or massage the scalp while waiting.
Rinse with lukewarm waterLet the water flow gently over the scalp. Do not allow direct shower pressure to strike the recipient area during the first 10 days.
Apply the clinic-provided shampooLather the shampoo between your hands first. Gently place the foam over the recipient area without rubbing. The donor area may be cleaned using gentle fingertip movements, without nails or aggressive friction.
Rinse immediatelyOn Days 2–9, rinse the shampoo off immediately using lukewarm, low-pressure water.
Dry carefullyAllow the scalp to air-dry or gently dab excess water using clean, lint-free gauze or a soft disposable paper towel. Never rub or drag the towel across the scalp. Do not use a hair dryer during the first 14 days.
Day 10: scab-removal wash
Apply the foam for 45 minutesCover the recipient and donor areas thoroughly and allow the scabs to soften.
Apply shampoo for approximately 5 minutesGently spread the shampoo over the scalp before beginning the massage.
Massage using your fingertipsUsing the soft pads of your fingertips, make gentle circular movements over the recipient area. Gradually increase the pressure until the softened scabs begin to detach. Never use your fingernails, scratch the scalp or pull individual scabs.
Rinse thoroughlyUse lukewarm, low-pressure water. Check the scalp in good lighting after rinsing.
If scabs remainDo not pick or force them off. Send us clear photos and follow the instructions provided by our medical team. The washing and massage process may be repeated the following day if advised.
Constant rules
Lukewarm water onlyAvoid hot water, as it may irritate the healing scalp and increase discomfort or oozing.
No direct shower pressureWater must not strike the recipient area directly during the first 10 days.
Use only approved productsDo not apply oils, moisturisers, antiseptics, antibiotic creams, styling products or any other scalp product unless approved by the clinic.
No fingernailsNever scratch, scrape or lift scabs using your nails.
Do not pull attached hairsA short transplanted hair may occasionally come away with a softened scab. Do not pull hairs or scabs manually.
Donor-area careWash the donor area daily using gentle fingertip movements. Do not scratch, scrub aggressively or use your fingernails.
Send daily progress photosUntil all scabs have detached, send clear photos each day in good lighting. Where possible, use the same angles and distance so our medical team can monitor healing accurately.

After Your Procedure

Immediate care
Days 0–14Mild forehead swelling is normalIt may gradually move toward the eyebrows or eyelids during the first few days. Keep your head elevated and limit excessive salt. Contact us if swelling is rapidly worsening, severely painful, associated with redness or fever, or significantly affects one side. Seek urgent medical advice if swelling affects vision or is accompanied by difficulty breathing.
Cold compressesIf advised by the clinic, a cool compress may be placed on the forehead only. Never apply ice or pressure directly over the grafts.
Scabs form around graftsScabs are normally removed or detach during the approved washing process by days 10–12. Do not pick, scratch or rub donor or recipient area.
Hair attached to a scabA short hair may occasionally come away with a scab during the approved washing process. This does not necessarily mean the graft has been lost. Contact us if there is fresh bleeding or visible tissue attached.
First wash is performed at the clinicTypically 1–2 days after the procedure. Do not wash the recipient area before then.
Washing at homeFollow the washing instructions provided by the clinic. Do not use hot water, high shower pressure, fingernails or a towel directly on the recipient area during the first 10 days, and avoid a hair dryer for the first 14 days.
Sensation changesTemporary numbness, tingling, sensitivity or altered sensation in the donor or recipient area is common. It usually improves gradually over several weeks but may occasionally take a few months to resolve.
Mild bleeding the first nightA small amount of oozing during the first night can be normal. Notify us if bleeding is heavy or persistent.
Avoid prolonged bending during the first few daysFor the first 3–4 days, avoid keeping your head lowered for long periods, as this may increase facial swelling. Bend from the knees when possible and rise slowly if you feel dizzy.
Protect your head from accidental knocksTake extra care when entering cars, passing through low doorways or reaching into overhead spaces. For the first 7–10 days, wear button-up or zip-up clothing rather than pulling tight tops over your head.
Keep screens comfortably elevatedDuring the first few days, avoid spending long periods with your head tilted downward. Raise your phone or laptop to a comfortable level.
Keep pets away from your scalpFor the first 10 days, avoid close contact between pets and your head to reduce infection risk and accidental knocks.
DrivingDo not drive on the day of your procedure. If you received sedative or relaxant medication, do not drive for at least 24 hours and only resume once you feel fully alert and free from dizziness.
ItchingMild itching is common during healing. Do not scratch the donor or recipient area with your fingernails. Contact us before applying any cream, oil, antihistamine or other product to the scalp.
Donor-area careMild tenderness, tightness, redness and small crusts in the donor area are normal. Follow the clinic's washing and treatment instructions.
Temporary shock lossSome existing native hairs around the recipient area may also shed temporarily during the first weeks. This can make the area appear thinner before regrowth begins and does not necessarily indicate damage to the transplant.
How to sleep — the first 10 nights
On your back with your head elevated approximately 30–45°Use two to three pillows or a wedge so your head stays above heart level. Never sleep face-down or on your side.
U-shaped travel pillowCan help reduce sideways movement during sleep and keep pressure away from the treated areas.
Clean pillowcase, first 3–4 nightsUse a fresh pillowcase each night to help keep the treated areas clean.
From night 10You may gradually return to your normal sleeping position, provided there is no direct rubbing or pressure on the recipient area.

Sun & environment
Direct sunlightAvoid prolonged direct sun exposure for the first month and protect the scalp carefully for the first 3 months. Brief unavoidable exposure is acceptable, but the scalp must not become hot or sunburned. Use an umbrella during the first 2 weeks. Once the scalp has fully healed, use a loose hat and high-SPF sun protection when needed.
HygieneAvoid dusty or polluted environments. Don't touch the scalp with unwashed hands.
Wind, cold and rainProtect the scalp from strong wind, extreme cold and heavy rain during the early healing period.
NutritionAdequate protein and hydration support healing. Avoid alcohol for the first 10 days and while taking any postoperative medication, unless the clinic has confirmed otherwise. Limit excessive salt the first few days.
Smoking and nicotineAvoid smoking, vaping, IQOS and all nicotine products for a minimum of 10 days after the procedure. Continuing complete avoidance for at least 2 weeks is strongly recommended — nicotine may reduce blood flow and delay healing.
Aspirin and blood-thinning medicationDo not start, stop or restart aspirin, anticoagulants or other blood-thinning medication without approval from both your prescribing physician and the clinic.
MedicationTake all prescribed medication exactly as directed. Do not add painkillers, supplements or herbal products without checking with the clinic.
Products on the scalpDo not apply oils, serums, styling products, concealers, hair fibres or non-prescribed scalp treatments until the date approved by the clinic.
Weeks 2–12
FolliculitisSmall pimple-like lesions can appear as new hairs emerge, most often in the following weeks or months. Do not squeeze or pop the lesions, and do not shave directly over inflamed areas. A warm compress may be used if recommended by the clinic. Do not begin antibiotics or steroid creams without medical advice. Contact us if lesions are painful, widespread, persistent or producing discharge.

Shedding phase
Transplanted hairs commonly shed. This is not graft loss — follicles remain intact under the skin. The scalp may look similar to pre-procedure during this time.
Month 3–4
Early regrowth
New hairs emerge — initially thin, lighter, uneven or wiry. Asymmetry is normal at this stage.
Month 5–7
Progressive growth and thickening
Density increases. Hairs become thicker and stronger. The crown develops more slowly.
Month 8–12
Cosmetic maturation
Significant cosmetic improvement is visible. Final result continues to refine through month 12.
Month 12–18
Continued refinement
Refinement continues, particularly in the crown, which typically completes its growth cycle latest.
Long-term consideration — A hair transplant restores density but does not stop natural hair loss progression elsewhere. Maintenance medication may be recommended depending on your pattern.
